We’ll call or text on the way to your home in Greater Seattle and Portland. You don’t need to be home for outside work, but we’ll knock on the door to greet you either way. We’ll let you know if we have questions for you or if your home could benefit from any additional services. When finished, we will come to the door to chat before we leave. We can answer any other questions you may have, let you know if we encountered anything unusual while we worked, and offer recommendations for a service schedule going forward.

We may need access to water from your outdoor faucets in order to clean up afterward. Please make sure the water is turned on. You may want to move your car away from the home, and it’s best to cover your outdoor furniture, particularly if you have fabric cushions. We will likely need access to your yard waste bin to dispose of the debris from your gutters. If you won’t be home, please unlock your gates so we can get all around your home.

Gutters need to be cleaned regularly in order to prevent the debris from blocking the flow of water. Clogged gutters are often the cause of water damage that can run up high repair bills or remain unnoticed until an inspector finds the damage and adds a complication to the sale of your home.

We have several methods for cleaning gutters depending on how far the roofing overhangs the gutters and the type of debris in the gutters. One method we use is a gutter tool that attaches to the end of a pole so we can pull the debris close and remove it by hand.

Another method we use is a blower to clear debris out of the gutters. We are careful to prevent debris from going into your downspouts and drains. We always clean up any mess.

A routine maintenance schedule better serves most homes than an expensive gutter protection system. If your gutters are getting clogged regularly, then there is probably debris landing on your roof.

We don’t recommend painting as a solution for the algae and grime that accumulates on your gutters. Painted gutters are much harder to get fully clean, and they are much more prone to staining. Also, your painter will charge you to clean the outside of the gutters first before painting. Gutter whitening is a complete solution, with instant results.

If your gutters still have the original factory paint, we expect white gutters to be brilliantly white after a gutter whitening. In some cases, there may be some faint staining that we cannot eliminate completely. Staining is caused by prolonged overflow and is more common and severe on gutters with after-market paint.
